The following applications have been developed and published by our Senior Developer, Jamil Spain. Jamil serves as the chief strategist for all web application projects. NCSSM Online Admissions Application URL: http://opensource.ncssm.edu/onlineapp Developed 4 tier application model for applicants, teachers, guidance counselors, and reference letter writers to complete various parts of the NCSSM Admissions Application. This process was engineered from a simple paper application and scaled to an OSS application built on LAMP. The complete admissions process is now electronic thereby eliminating the need for paper application submittals. Currently in its 2nd yr of operation, the application has scaled to serve over 3,000 + different user accounts. UNI-CENTER URL: http://unicenter.ncssm.edu This LAMP application is a private intranet which serves as “glue” to the NCSSM Student Information System Chauncery Winschool. Winschool DBF extracts are imported daily to linux server by Registrar Department. PHP5 handles modules boasting PDF generated Transcripts, Student and Faculty schedules for current academic year, SAT test score imports, senior management reports, student store inventory management, state vehicle web based reservations, electronic attendance, and student grade progress reports. Parent Extranet URL: http://opensource.ncssm.edu/puni This LAMP application is a public extranet which allows parents to pull electronic student schedules, attendance records, discipline notices, report cards and supplemental notices concerning class work. Parents can also view faculty teaching schedule by trimester, phone, email, and office hours information for easy communication. Perhaps the most exciting module of the Extranet is an internal "journal" which allows parents to submit comments under common topics of interest and get better acquainted. NCSSM Moodle InstanceURL: http://moodle.ncssm.edu As Moodle Application Administrator, our Senior Developer managed the installation of Moodle Course Management System for NCSSM. Together with Chief Information Officer, we assembled and implemented a migration plan to move the school from Blackboard to Moodle. Our Senior Deverloper wrote a module from within the Uni-Center that closely automate adding courses for professors, managing course enrollment to synchronize with Registrar drop/adds, and toggle course visibility for teachers depending on the current session in progress. Our Senior Developer also modified Moodle to authenticate via the local Microsoft Active Directory servers.
